Causes For Concern

Illegal Parking ~ Speeding ~ Litter ~ Motorcycles/cars ~ Dog Fouling

PARKING

It is an offence to park or stop to drop passengers off on the yellow zig-zag lines outside the village school. These restrictions have been imposed for the safety of the children yet some parents continue to break the law and endanger children and other pedestrians.

There are also unbroken yellow lines from near the Post Office, round the corner past the lighthouse to the corner of Leonard Close. These make it an offence to park in this area from Good Friday to October 31st each year.

The Parish Council support the Police in prosecuting drivers caught parking illegally and breaking the law.

SPEEDING

There is a 30 mph speed limit on all Paull roads, starting at Battery Cottage on the Hedon approach and from near the entrance to Fort Paull on the Thorngumbald road - signs are clearly posted outside the village.

On Back Lane and Thorngumbald Road in particular, speeding traffic is a frequent occurence and is a serious danger to pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.

The Police have been informed of the times of most occurences and are monitoring the speed of traffic through the village. Offenders will as always be prosecuted by the Police.

MOTORCYCLES & CARS ON THE PLAYING FIELD

Motor cycles and cars are not allowed on the playing field or the picnic area beyond the car park at High Paull, or on any of the footpaths anywhere.

A substantial amount of damage has been caused by irresponsible motorists, a small minority spoiling the enjoyment of the public.

The Parish Council is working to secure these areas and the Police are aware of the problem and will prosecute offenders.

LITTER

It is an offence for anyone to drop litter ANYWHERE - on-the-spot fixed penalty notices of £50 can be issued to anyone caught dropping litter in the street, on the river front, playing field or car park etc. and court prosecutions can lead to much larger fines on conviction.

Litter is not only unsightly but can be hazardous to children, pets and wildlife. There are plenty of litter bins around the village and on the car park at High Paull, and visitors and residents are asked to use them.
